Teleconverter - is this normal?

Bought a new Kenko AF 1.4x conversion lens today and was surprised to find that the aperture actuation lever is not spring-loaded - it just waves about in the breeze. I have visions of it engaging the wrong side of the matching lever in either a lens or the camera body. I have another older (much) TC and the lever in that one is definitely spring-loaded. And this of course is the norm in all my lenses. The dealer says that is the way they (Kenko) are made.
Now I made be acting like a daft old git, but could any kind soul who has this particular TC please put my mind at rest?

Many thanks
Roger

When the lens is mounted, the lever will be correctly positioned and also held firmly. This is quite normal in TCs.

Try it once the lens is attached .. if I remember correctly it uses the lever of the lens to make itself "springy"

If that makes sense.

I had a kenko converter and it was the same. Definitely not a fault.

Hi,

if this is the Kenko Teleplus DG 1.4X MC version as sold by SRS for £89 I'd be very interested to hear how it performs and if its better than earlier versions.

I read of a Pro version that never seems to have made it to the Pentax mount

best Bill
