tamron 70 200mm f2.8

I am now the proud owner of this lens has any one got a image taken with it they are proud of I would like to see the quality before I try it myself

I think Richard (Day) had one but sold it when he got the DA* 60-250mm f4.

Can you explain what happens or direct me to a link on tc
what dose it do to the lens in regards to the f2.8 and DOF I think it alters it but not sure????

I would presume the best TC for the Tamron 70-200mm would be the Tamron 1.4x which would give you something like a 90-280mm f3.5. Here is a pic of the one I have, unfortunately they are very hard to find as they also work with Pentax SDM lenses. Amin had the same one, not sure if he sold it or not though.

I have seen them go for anything up to £150. They seem to fetch more every time I see one for sale (which isn't very often).

As you don't need the SDM/HSM side of things you may be better off with a Kenko 1.5x teleconverter.

Surely 70-200 is a bit long for portraits? I don't take them but 70 is surely about as long as you need for an APS sensor?

Nice lens if it's anything like my Tamron 17-50 for quality.

and i do have my 16 45mm f4 for portraits plus when I'm shooting a 3/4 shoot I will always put a 50 200mm on my camera anyway plus they didn't have the 135mm and it was calling my name the 50-135mm f2.8 is going to be my next lens in the new year

plus you've not seen the size of my soft box i think it stands around 3 to 4 feet tall.

this is not one of my shots just an example.

Fair do's candids at wedding it should work well if you can hold it still in the ambient light or have a suitably powerful flash. Street candids at 200 would, I'd have thought, lack any connection with your subject and in all cases there will quite heavy compression of features due to the perspective (or whatever it is).

The sample shot is a somewhat specialist application IMO and I doubt shot at 200 more like 50-100 if that.

I'm not sure what the size of your soft box has do with it but that's my ignorance showing through.

50-200 for a three quarter length shot would put you in the next room for 3/4 length at 200mm surely? I could conceivably see 200 for an albeit distant head and shoulders but with my lack of experience I would have thought about 70 is Ok for head and shoulders and 35 to 50 for 3/4 but as I say I don't do portraits just stuff when the family press gang me.

states 200mm f/l But In saying that I am going to buy the 28-70 f2.8 today as now I've cooled off and realized it was a bit of an impulse buy (the magpie affect) but it will come in handy as I've got a school concert to go to next week and their is no flash's aloud.


I can always sell it. I am going to Florida next year it will come in handy over their I'm sure

I used my Tamron Adaptall 2 70-210mm f3.5 to good effect in Spain for street candids, it was especially good at festivals.
Mostly around 150mm.
