tamron 70-200 f 2.8

Been offered a good p/x for my da* 50-135 for a tamron 70-200 2,8 is the tam as sharp as the da*? i know it wont be quiet but i will gain more lenght i find the da* sort on the long end at times advice and thoughts

I prefer the Tamron 70-200 to the 50-135, it has not given me any trouble for one thing. As you say the Tamron will not be as quiet, but I doubt if the subject is more than a couple of meters away they will notice the difference. The thing I would mention is the Tamron is a bit larger and heavier then the 50-135

It's an excellent lens, albeit a tiny bit on the heavy side.

Just a little note though. The Tamron has a bit of glow at the long end at 200mm and f/2.8 which is very useful for portraits but not so much for normal shooting. It clears up by f/3.5 so there's nothing to worry about. It's very very sharp at that point.

I found it sharp BUT it could hunt for AF sometimes. Mine developed a fault where the AF would bounce at infinity and wouldn't AF at all. Sent it to Tamron who said X, Y, Z was wrong with it and the repair cost was the same as buying it new from Amazon at the time!
