Well he certainly is not getting mine 
Best new lens I have bought for a very long time - superb!
They do come up on ebay occasionally and there is an ebay dealer in Poland (trading as fotonia.poland)offering them new for £499 inc. UK delivery with a 2 year EU warranty - have not bought from them but they have a solid reputation and a direct web-site as well as trading on ebay
