Never thought I would sell these lens, but here it goes...

Tamron 400mm F4 - optics are near flawless. The body not so much. Focus is still smooth, but there are marks all over the body of the lens (they don't affect image quality) There are maybe a few hundred of these lenses in existence right now that have an non-scratched from element. £650 + cost of shipping takes it and I imagine it won't be long to sell so message now. I'm including the PK-A adapter (so there is aperture control on this!). I would really prefer someone pick it up as it's aligned and in great condition and would be worried about posting it (it often wins the my lens is the biggest lens competition).

Next I'm selling a 500mm mirror lens with Pentax PK Adapter for £80 and a 2x extender for £35 plus shipping for both.

It is a terrific beast, and they only come up every year or two nowadays.

Is that the matched 2x for the 500mm?

Gartmore: It is the one matched for that. As well as the Tamron 400mm...

Mike-P.... I noticed. I feel absolutely gutted the lens went for what it did.

I did try to help. I bid £200 on it reasonably early to get it going, and it stuck on £200 for quite a while. I was getting a bit worried that I might win it at that, which would have been more than a little embarrassing.

As you've said, it's worth whatever it's worth. I couldn't help thinking that a 24 hour sale was a bit too short for high value items.

Helping bidding along for others is definitely against eBay rules, so I wouldn't advise either doing it or telling us about it. I believe it is called shell bidding, and likely to get offenders chucked off eBay.

Buyers who felt that they were being manipulated would no doubt be quick of the mark to report it as well. It's easy to forget that the whole world can read this forum, it's not a private conversation.

It's called shill bidding John, and I wasn't bidding against myself, neither was there any agreement/contact/knowledge of the seller. I placed a genuine bid which I would have honoured, had I won. Sadly, I didn't, which actually I'm quite happy about because now I don't have any explaining to do.

We'll stop this subject now, but reading the article that Algi refers to would be good advice for us all I'm sure.

Especially for such an unusual one.
