Not certain what that lens is like, but leave the 50-135mm at home Sacrilege!

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

I echo Mike-P's comments. I sold the 18-200 in the end because I just didn't use it. The quality at the shorter length I found lacking. It wasn't THAT bad and it's quite a nice lens to use, but I found myself compromising on the focal range rather than the quality.

Cheers all, you might have saved me £140!
the 55-300 sounds good, I already have the Sigma 70-300 for my sins...However I am looking at the 60-250 instead but that would be too bulky for abroad....

guess I need to comment. I had that lens and really like the convenience factor. I didn't think the IQ was bad at all. (my leaf pic was taken with it. My only entry.)
I heard or read somewhere that most lenses were way better than the skill of photographers anyway. So...not sure of that, but thought I would add that.

Pentax K-5, Tamron 17-50, Tamron 70-300, Metz 50 AF-1 flash, and working on buying more lenses in the future. It never ends.

If that were the case then we would all be walking round with 18-250mm Pentax lenses and you wouldn't have needed the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8

A good photographer can get reasonable results from a terrible lens. However, they'll get superb results from a decent lens.
I've never understood that old nonsense about "a bad workman always blames his tools". If the tools are rubbish then it doesn't matter how skilled you are, the results will be bad. Starting with decent kit gives you a far better chance of a good result.
I wouldn't mind a Pentax FA 28-200mm, but I'm not sure I'd make much use of it now as I have space in my bag for the 18-55mm along with 28mm, 50mm, 120mm (or 135mm) and 200mm primes.

That saying has nothing to do with skills allowing you to get good results from bad kit. It simply means that one who is not skilled and does not wish to admit it will tend to blame his equipment, even when the said newbie is holding a K-7 with DA* glass attached (or a shiney new Leon Paul fencing sword, a Steyr air pistol, or insert expensive sports/art equipment here).I've never understood that old nonsense about "a bad workman always blames his tools". It's just a warning to those who believe they can buy their way to success at any activity.
you don't have to be mad to post here

I am asking as LCE have some copies really cheap and I am considering it.
Not for my top shots (I have others for this) but for travelling. It would reduce my lens count when abroad. However I am concerned that it is not all it is cracked up to be. If I got this lens, then my lens count for trips abroad would be 3 (this, the nifty and the Sigma 10-20) but If I dont, then I would probably take the 16-45, the 10-20, the nifty and the 50-135, each lens being quality and sharp, but bulky.
What do you think?
