System Exclusives

Just following on from comments about how extensive or otherwise the pentax system is, I thought it might be interesting to think about the items that are exclusive to the various marques.

Starting with Pentax, how about the following exclusive items:

Pentax Nocta (IR flash and 300mm lens for surveillance)
Pentax Quartz-Takumar 85mm f3.5
Pentax Ultra-Achromatic Takumar 85mm f4.5
Pentax Ultra-Achromatic Takumar 300mm f5.6
Pentax 250-600mm zoom
Pentax 400-600mm Reflex Zoom
Pentax 135-600mm Zoom
Pentax Limited Lenses
Pentax Ghostless Filter
Asahiflex Copy Camera

Any others we can think of?
Best regards, John

Not sure if these are exclusive or not:

Helecoid Extension tube.

1.7x AF Adapter

Bayonet to screw adapter (who else enables all their own lenses to be used on the latest bodies).

Power Zooms inc. trap focus etc.

Lenses in multiples of 10mm

30mm
40mm
120mm
150mm

Stereo Adapter and viewer.

Copypod.

Speedbag.

Must be some LX bits.

Hi,

Some of these are truly exclusive and some are not. Some are dubious, as other camera/lens makers have made similar items at some point in time. If you trawl through all the other SLR makers ranges over the years you will find they all have several items unique to themselves...Pentax are by no means the one with the copyright on uniqueness!

One example: "Helecoid Extension tube"..the Olympus OM system has an extending extension tube.

If you want a truly extensive system, take a read of the books that cover the Nikon F mount system items since it's inception.

I would say the only truly unique Pentax items that are also relevant to most users are the weird focal length lenses that Pentax like to produce.

I have used Nikon F, Pentax K, Canon FD, Olympus OM and Contax/Zeiss and they all have some unique and 'odd' items they made. The Minolta MC/MD system also had some weird lenses such as the MD 24mm VFC lens and others.

cheers Steve.

Ah, a very good point but Zeiss doesn't offer a whole camera system whereas Pentax (or Nikon, etc.) does. So I'm afraid that one may be ruled offside.

K 8.4mm f/2.8 Fish-Eye???
M 32-39/2.8 Flexi, not that we can get it though

TAv and Sv modes, I believe and maybe the green button?
I know samsung has them too but think that's the exception.

...they did with the lovely Contax system... ....and we did seem to be speaking historically....no offside here...it is a confusing rule.
