Sydney harbor bridge and Opera house

I have always struggled to get decent images of both the Harbor bridge and the Opera house. They are both such well photographed places that my images just dont seem to do them justice and generally end up looking like holiday snaps.

Last saturday my eldest woke early so I thought I would go down and have yet another bash to see what I could do and I am happy enough with th results to post here

1) The bridge as the sun comes up

I prefer the second image - It's a great choice of focal length as it does both the bridge and the Opera House justice, whilst giving a pleasing enough composition. I like it's warm colours.

I must admit, I'm not especially keen on the lens vignetting of the first - I think it's too under-exposed.

As above, second image is the better. Both good. A warm light on the second.

Another vote for the second shot from me, very nice.

i love the second image how the light is landing on the structures is excellent.

I think both shots are great. I can see what the others mean by their choice of the second shot, but the first for me is also great. The vignette on the right is a little strong and hides the reflection in the water which slightly unbalances the image. Really like them both though.

I prefer the second shot too. The light is great and the composition a bit different from most shots I have seen of the Opera House.

Both very nice to my mind. Make me want to go to Australia. If pushed though, like everyone else, I would opt for the second as a favourite.

I like them both. How hard it is to take original pictures of world famous monuments like these!

Second one for me the light catching the opera house & bridge really make it sing. The vignetting on number two is to strong and stylised but apart from that I like composition.

Thats the problem i was trying to over come, I wanted to capture them both in a way that was a bit different from the norm.

The lighting in the first was quite tricky, it is actully brighter on the left than the right due to the sun rising on the left hand side. I will reduce the vignetting to see how it looks.
