Swap: 16-45 f4...

Only just recently purchased this 16-45mm from another forum member, but now a travelling opportunity crept up and I'll need something with a longer zoom to bring along to save some weight!
bit gutted to let go of it, but would like to swap for a petnax 17-70mm f4....(Could possibly add some cash towards it to make it sensible...)

The DA17-70 is a fine lens indeed (and quite a lot more expensive than the 16-45)

Do bear in mind that it's quite a heavy beast: 485g vs 365g of the 16-45

I still have both, but prefer the 17-70 almost 100% of the time
(Might be worth giving Chris at SRS a ring to see if there's any chance of a second hand one...)

thanks for the tips matt, I did read about that but I'd probably prefer the versatality of having just one lens that does most, instead of a few ones that i could change between, especially when I might well be in quite a deserted environment. If I could afford it I'd happily own both, but I couldn't....=P
I've tried chris, I think he's only got new ones in! =(
so I'm still looking out for the swap...

You could also consider Sigma 17-70 - which is cheaper than the Pentax, more plentiful secondhand, and perhaps closer to being "swap-worthy"!

that's true jon, somehow I don't know why I seem to prefer the pentax one, even though meaning that i might have to add some cash to the trade....=P=P=P

The Pentax 17-70 is worth around double the value of the 16-45mm so I think might may not be quite the word you are looking for
