Adrian,
The DA17-70 is a fine lens indeed (and quite a lot more expensive than the 16-45)
Do bear in mind that it's quite a heavy beast: 485g vs 365g of the 16-45
I still have both, but prefer the 17-70 almost 100% of the time
(Might be worth giving Chris at SRS a ring to see if there's any chance of a second hand one...)

thanks for the tips matt, I did read about that but I'd probably prefer the versatality of having just one lens that does most, instead of a few ones that i could change between, especially when I might well be in quite a deserted environment. If I could afford it I'd happily own both, but I couldn't....=P

that's true jon, somehow I don't know why I seem to prefer the pentax one, even though meaning that i might have to add some cash to the trade....=P=P=P
