Super Multi Coated Macro Takumar 1:4/50

I just got prints back from using the above Screw Mount Macro lens as a standard lens on Don's Super Program body (with adapter of course). I was on a tough hike and had to choose just one lens to lug. As there are to be a lot of tiny flowers etc., I decided that macro was most important. Well, I got great shots of bugs and flowers as expected, but my scenic and people shots blew my mind! I was shooting in the f8-f11 range with 200ISO film, and the colour, contrast and SHARPNESS is nothing short of astounding. I think I've just found my favorite all-rounder! For those of us who haven't tried their Pentax Macros for outdoor, sun-lit work in place of their standard primes - I say go for it! And so ends to-day's blather from Montreal. Cheers!

Just had another look at the f4/100mm screw Takumar I have and it has SMC ! Stupid mistake. I was using it with the K-mount insert, which can be a bit of a pain to get in and out of the DS. Had a look around in my camera junk box a found an old T-2 'k' mount. Much easier to get in and out, but as it acts like a small extension ring, I loose focus at infinity, but probably get a little bit better than 0.5x magnification. But it will make it more convenient to use for Macro shots. So it may be a quick and easy solution for others.
