First sunspot with the 8" scope. Not much practice this year, so not as great as possible.

Very interesting capture, if not the prettiest photo of the year

I can remember when I did history at college, reading an article which correlated sunspot activity and the election of "liberal" governments !

Between the clouds and wind, it was tough holding focus.

Karl,

I do strange photos now and again. But not eggs, I eat those.

So what filter do you use for an impressive shot like that?
Cheers, HG

K110+DA40, K200+DA35, K3 and a bag of lenses, bodies and other bits.

Mustn't forget the Zenits, or folders, or...

PPG entries.

I use Baader visual solar film.

I then make a cell to hold it on the scope. It can be used to make a solar filter for any lens or binoculars.

The sunspot is fine, but it strikes me that the sun is not purple. It looks as though some colour adjustment is needed.
Best regards, John

Not enough practice, and low level of PS skills. I'll try my new filter material when I can.

But many times you'll see purple or blue depending on the type of filter used.

Not a skylight filter then?

seriously, I often wondered how people photo'd the sun, now I know.
