Subway platform

Taken on a jaunt around a part of Hong Kong yesterday, using Gillbod's crazy 100mm night vision lens. I thought the vintage film look suited the futuristic platform (okay, perhaps not entirely futuristic, but it looks a little futuristic when it's out of focus ). As usual it was the red shoes that caught my eye. Perhaps I should see a doctor.

Ye Gods, that's different!
What is the greenish balloon behind the red shoes though?

I like the treatment, Tim, though I'm not sure about the green tint (and the balloon). I think I like this image most out of your shots with this lens - the effect is great here.

BTW, my curiosity has been raised by your recent shots - do you feel free to actually look through the viewfinder while taking shots of Hong Kong people in a way you can't in the UK, or is this a change in your style of shooting?

Haha yes I only noticed that green balloon after uploading it to Flickr. I think it's partly caused by the reflection of one of those green signs, but who the hell knows?

Dr M I went a bit greenish after trying a few different preset white balances, and I liked this one the most Nothing deeper than that I'm afraid!

Regarding photography in Hong Kong and China I feel vastly more comfortable taking a photo of a stranger here. It would be extremely unusual for someone to complain about it - it's a 'face' thing. Also in the back of my mind is the face that random street violence is (compared to the UK) unheard of here. When it happens it's front page news, not an everyday Saturday night occurrence. Finally I am walking around town in a Hawaiian shirt (only a few years away and you forget how crippling the humidity can be) so I look like an insane tourist anyway. I would think that being a foreigner in Sri Lanka would provide you with a similar 'armour'.

Perhaps I'll start dressing like a Japanese photography tourist back in the UK, it might improve my nerve.
