Studland Heathlands

From the roadside viewpoint between Corfe Castle and Studland, looking towards outer Poole Harbour with the mouth on the right and the Sandbanks beach behind. Brownsea Island is to the left and the shoreline of Poole Harbours snakes around in the far distance.

Pentax K7 and SMC F35-70, at 70mm f10.0 ..... a handheld shot with SR on, and a bit of a crop in too.

We enjoyed Brownsea - fantastic place to visit. This is a really pleasant shot, showing so much detail and with natural colour as well.
Best regards, John

Thankyou ! I've found the K7 / f35-70 combination to be excellent, and yes, I seem to get a lot of detail from shots using it.

I haven't been onto Brownsea, but we floated past during the summer visit on the Swanage to Poole ferry, and I grabbed a few with a 70-300, mainly around the jetty area. The processing engine is a bit slow to crank up at present (a lot going on) but hopefully I'll have plenty more to come in the next few weeks.

Yes, it has good colour and detail, Nigel. This sort of photo would really benefit from filling the screen, but it doesn't seem to go more than 800 pixels wide. I forget the limitations of different web sites - please remind me, is 800 the most allowed here?

Cheers.
Philip

It may be ...I don't resize specifically for the forum. My own 'web-sized' versions are reduced to 75% of the original resolution and to around 1mb file size (I find this is necessary with landscapes to remove compression caused sky banding). I let the website itself take it from there. The actual size I see seems to very depending on the device screen ... On my phone it just takes a quick swipe in to fill the screen, and the ipads the same. On my big work monitors then the image stays smaller within that larger space. Obviously with a mouse it's more difficult to easily zoom than on a touchscreen.

Thanks for taking a look also Philip. It you ever get a chance that part of Dorset is very rewarding!
