Strumpshaw dragonflies

Meant to put this on a while ago. This is my 3rd photo from the weekend I spent at strumpshaw (where I took the swallowtail photos). Picture the scene: a group of experienced wildlife photographers, mainly canon users, a couple of nikon and an olympus and me, inexperienced (2 years with a peanasonic bridge) with my pentax k20d + sigma 150-500, gathered round the UKs rarest species of dragonfly (Norfolk Hawker) in flight. Guess which one got the best shot of the weekend! lol

Well Neil, all I can say is that you are a very quick learner, these are fantastic shots, nicely composed and very sharp. Top shots.
Cliff.

Really exquisite photographs, the third one has excellent definition and good tonal range in it - very well taken.

Love the third one, especially the yellow structures in the wings.

Thanks very much guys. Im rather pleased how quickly I managed to get the hang of the basics wih the k20d, I just love the two dials/rolly bits (cant think of the proper word) that change aperture and iso in Av mode, so handy with wildlife. And I have no idea what the sigmas are soft brigage are on about! (although it can be a tad slow in low light)

all i can say neil think your self lucky you got a good 150-500mm as mine is back at sigma again and now they want my camera body to calibrate the lens to it, and i found the 150-500mm slower focus then both the 170-500mm i have and had, but optically your pics look very impressive, would be nice to so the full size versions,
just keep snapping,
