I have a K10d and a 120-400mm Sigma lens combination.

What are the suggestions regarding a strap/sling type thing so that the camera sits on your hip.

I only have the standard strap, so ideas/links would be appreciated.

Thanks
Colin

I've been looking into UK suppliers of Sun Sniper Steel - looks to be a possible solution for your problem. It appears to be a German brand and sells for nearly £50 - even so I've not yet got to the point of buying one, so can't put my name to it as a recc.

I was looking at them yesterday in Calumet, couldn't make up my mind

I found Sun Sniper as well on the net, but as Ken said, I still cannot make up my mind.

Hi Colin
Very OT but what do you think of the Sigma 120-400 IQ wise please?

I ordered one of the BlackRapid straps from Warehouse Express and returned it immediately. Great idea, but not great hardware actually used on the strap itself. Definitely felt a little short-changed given it cost £55.

From a little exploring on the web, the Sun Sniper is a Chinese knock-off of the BlackRapid, commissioned by the former distributors of the Black Rapid strap. Apparently the hardware isn't as good as the BlackRapid (which would be a worry to me).

The concept of these sling straps is a good one, I just don't think anyone has made a decent enough version of one yet.

There is another option, called a Lumo-Loop, which looks interesting. I haven't seen one of these yet though.

I think I'm going to go down the line of a long "traditional" strap which can be worn over the shoulder. After being so impressed with my Kata Bag I'm tempted to go for one of their straps.
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Apparently.

John, only bought it last night unable to test yet. It is very quiet in its focus operation and works with the Tamron AF 1.4 TC as well.

I will post shots ASAP but that will not be before the weekend.

I will have a look at the straps that you mentioned, which one are you thinking about?

Regards & thanks for all the replies

Hi Colin

Look forward to seeing your results, thanks. Great to know it works with the Tamron 1.4x BTW

Realise it isn't a sling strap, but the Optech Pro seems to have a good reputation.

The Kata Reflex E looks like it could be long enough

I found some others on the Net, but may look at the OP/TECH Pro Digital Camera Soft Neck Strap or the Lowepro Transporter Digital or Film S.L.R Camera Strap. The Lowepro Transporter looks like it has a pouch which may take either a remote or memory card.

Any thoughts on these two anyone?

AFAIK the Lowepro straps all have pouches for memory cards, mine came with one.

I walked into the local Jessops and walked out with a Neoprene strap for £10.00 that can go across the body, used it today a bargain. Works very well with the K10+12-400mm Sigma.

I am well pleased.
