thanks for the comments, a lot more of these fields appearing it seems, certainly stand out. with the train i did not expect that amount of blur but pleasantly surprised ,it was stationary and i pressed the release the moment it moved, the exposure was 2sec.

I think my problem with the Rape Fields ( crikey that sounds like the US atrocity of My Lai in Vietnam ) shot is that it's flat and 2 dimensional, while the station shot really pops.
I think the fields shot could do with some editing to give it some 3 dimensional character that pops.

That has certainly given it a 'boost' - it has increased the difference between the ground and sky. I'm not sure if this is better, as the field now seems quite brightly sunlit - but there's no obvious source of sunlight poking through the clouds, so it looks a bit artificial IMO. Perhaps a compensatory brightening to the sky is also needed?

the sun did break through in the top left hand to the extent it was completely blown out so i cropped it out but on saying that the yellow of thses fields is extremely bright also i am useless at selections. another art over reality situation, sorry Nigel

Two interesting shots. They are both thoughtfully cropped and nicely composed. The railway station shot is particularly good.

thanks for comments, in the train shot the camera was on a gorillapod on the floor me stood with cable release. tried shots in different positions until i found what looked about right as i knew roughly where the train would stop from watching one earlier.
