Stop, breathe and think

Lately I've buying, playing around and selling some lenses.

I've realized I'm not much closer to having the lenses I really need.

Some time ago I thought about what lenses I should get that really fitted my photography plus what I'd like to get to have fun with.
This included:
17-70 + 55-300mm
18-250mm
This would cover almost all my photographic subjects. Then fast 50mm 100/135mm for portraits would cool for portraits and DOF play. A fish-eye and a macro for fun.

Upon examination I would change very little in this plan, but I've gotten only the "extras" so far (no fish-eye yet). And I'm not any close of getting the lenses I mentioned.

I've been getting lenses on good deals, and its been fun, but no focus...
Currently I have 3 70-210mm, 1 100-300mm, 1 70-300mm (half working tammy), 1 28-105mm, 1 24mm, 1 200mm. They are fine lenses for the most part, but not essential...
Plus I have another 70-210mm and Viv 28-90mm (for the MX, hope its as good as ppl say).
I need to sell some of these, but I also need to not buy more

How do I focus?

On a side note, I'm no longer sure I really need the 18-250mm, but I'd like a flexible lens. For the short range a Sigma 17-70mm seems cool and a bit longer and it'd be close to being pretty flexible. The 28-105mm seems fine, but the bokeh isn't great, nothing compared to the Tammy 105mm Adaptall F2.5.
There is also a 18-125mm which isn't that great in IQ as the 17-70mm, but certainly cheaper and better range.
Anyone has experience with this lens? I'm inclined to getting it if I get a good deal (forgetting the 18-250mm).

Interested in a trade? a Mint Sigma 17-70mm for your 18-250mm.
Just bought a DA* 16-50mm so have no real need for it now.

Bought a Tamron 28-300mm to bring back to Spain as this is the last time and I needed to travel light ... absolutely hate it.

I've been searching hi & lo for the Sigma 18-125. Had it with my Nikon but it appears Sigma never made it for the Pentax?
And the 18-200 and 18-250 are out of my price range.

Good luck getting your lenses sorted out. Does anyone ever really get what they really want? Or is there always something else that looks better.

The Sigma 18-125mm does exist for Pentax.

Thinking about it... If I knew Pentax was bringing FF soon, the 28-105mm F2.8 would be nice, but its not likely, plus I'm not very interested in FF, give me an even better noise performing APS-C and I'll be much happier.

Oh that's good to know. I guess it's just a case of waiting for a secondhand one to show? I can't see it listed new anywhere.

The 18-250 would be awesome as a walkabout general purpose happy snapper lens. Mike's 17-70 would be nice too.

I had (have) an oldish Tamron 24-135mm SP AF lens that is absolutely superb but I dropped it a few months ago and it seems to have somehow misaligned the internals and now everything comes out with no focus.

Will prob get it fixed when I get back if its not too costly as I miss it a lot.

Well worth getting it fixed, 24-135 is a great size to walk about with.

I might like one myself too, but never see any second-hand ones. The new price is rather high for what it is, I think.

"How do I focus"? Sell your junk and buy some good stuff! Your initial plan of 17-70 + 55-300mm sounds good to me.

Mike-P I have a Tamron 28-300 and love it. It is currently on the Ds as Hubby's lens of choice, but it went on safari with me and to the US last year as my travelling light lens, and I was very happy with it.
Because he now uses it all the time I am left with the Bigma as my only long zoom, which can't be called travelling light!

Sorry I didn't answer the initial question - as iceblinker says, sell the rest and buy the 17-70 an 55-300. or buy one and wait to get the next.

I'm still dithering over whether to get the 55-300 or wait for the Sigma 18-250 HSM to take instead of the Bigma when I want to travel "light". Since the 60-250 seems as mythical as ever and the quality dubious it will have to be one of those too. And yes, I know the weight of the 60-250!
