5. Why does it say "Edited" on my posts when I only corrected my spelling mistakes (give us at least 2 minutes after the post/comment)
I've taken this up with them on several occasions. They don't think it's worth having it so that you don't get the message if you edit before there are any subsequent posts. Their argument is that you should be able to get rid of typos with the preview facility.

Well there you have it, your tired so your grumpy and grumpy people can always find something to moan about I'm sure there are other moans and groans but it's 1.51am and way past my bedtime.
I dont mind the new look, its taken some getting used to but I can live with it, and I would sooner have the ads than no free forum

Another good reason to use Firefox is the built in spill chucker, it checks as you type I have to admit, if someone has edited a post, other readers should know about it. It could be something more sinister than spill chucking, I always type why I have edited a post, saves any embarrassment

That's a good point, and one I try to follow when I edit for any reason other than to fix typos.I always type why I have edited a post, saves any embarrassment

The price of a free forum. I think they are MUCH better than ads appearing between messages.I still do not like this new forum.

What I dislike is the Blut und Eisen colour scheme. A nice restful green-based scheme would be much nicer that this over-powering red and black thing, which reminds me of cage bars.I'm sure there are other moans and groans but it's 1.51am and way past my bedtime.

For those of you who are quite happy with Internet Explorer you can get IE7Pro plug-in which is a free download. It has a built in spell checker and ad-blocker which gets rid of some of the ad's on the right hand side.

I may be wrong, but I think the 'New Posts' is supposed to just show threads that have been updated since your last visit, while 'Recent Comments' sorts all threads into date order.4. Technically if you've gone back to a post and changed a spelling then it has been edited. Not sure why this would matter anyway? But I agree with the comments above, if I do edit a post I do add a short explanation why.

That is probably the last thing anyone needs. Giant corporations like Hoya will not pay for anything remotely critical, seditious or cesessionist. Lets just thank our good friends who indulge us.

Actually be very warey of IE7pro. It is extremely intrusive, although I do not know if it is malicious. Alarm bells started ringing when I could not set my IE7 home page to about:blank. I uninstalled it and still could not. I went through the registry and removed all links to it - still no joy. I then googled it and there are hundreds of people asking how to get rid of it.
I ended up restoring my last backup. Fortunately my pictures are in a different partition.

The adverts are mainly an earner for ePhotozine. This forum wouldn't need that amount of advertising for funding on its own.

I stand to be corrected, but it seems to me that there are far more postings/posters/activity since the refurb.

I think you're right but I don't have stats to back that up - just a feeling...

I'm a new boy and have only used the new look forum. For normal things like posting and finding topics I’m looking for its fine.
What I don't understand is why the "Help Centre" is about Pentax Equipment and not the operation of the Forum. Examples; how to upload an image into a post, what's a sticky topic Etc.
Am I just looking for answers in the wrong place? I'm sure if I asked someone would tell me.
What is REALLY good about the forum is the experience, information and entertainment to be gleaned from it.

I never knew the old one and am quite happy with the new one. It has its quirks but no worse than most and much better than many (e.g. the Digital Photography one). In fact, I have given up posting to any other photographic forum. The only thing which annoys me is the randomness of the read/unread markers. I sometimes miss threads altogether.
For me, what makes this forum the place to be (in a virtual sense) are the people. Although one or two minor grumpy threads have appeared (and I added to one the other day... sorry ) it is an amazingly friendly forum with knowledgeable, helpful posters. I look forward to George's pithy comments, hefty's latest DIY project, Clarky's bargains, John's encyclopaedic knowledge of all things Pentax, Matt's technical wizardry amongst many others. My glass is much more than half full.
And it is 2am here and time for me to sleep.
Cheers, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.
