Starting the day

Earlier this summer I spent three days photographing the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway operation in North Wales. This narrow gauge system, based on Porthmadog, attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year to ride the trains through stunning mountain scenery.Comment Image

I began my second day with a visit to the engine sheds and workshops at Boston Lodge, before breakfast, to see the engines being prepared.
I used the K5 with DA*16-50mm lens and the K3 with DA*50-135mm.
ISO settings ranged from 400-1250.Comment Image

The engines featured are Britomart, surely the original Ivor the Engine, former British-built South African Railways Garratt engine no.87 now working the Welsh Highland Railway, and Ffestiniog engines Linda, David Lloyd George and Merddyn Emrys.

A most interesting set, David. As you know, it's a favourite railway of my son's and we're very happy to tag along for the rides and pictures.
Best wishes,

Andrew

All sharp and well exposed but several have a 'blue' colour cast -- maybe you should have used 'cloudy' on the 'White Balance' --- on FILM I use an 81B filter.
