Hi Barrie, I'll give it my best shot on feedback for these:
I think the most successful shot is the one of the fingers on the brass instrument, due to the graphic elements which tend to suit BW images. The second best is number two for me.
Number 1 and number 3 don't quite work for me, I think this is more due to the compositional element which doesn't look quite right. The last one would have worked very well, but is a bit out of focus and as a consequence I think it loses a little impact.
Hope this makes sense!
Regards
David

The brass instrument player's fingers and the wrestling shots are my choice Barrie. They and the sheep have good quality punchy blacks and whites.

The lady playing the Eb bass is my favourite, but then I'm biased. K.

It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head. Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Totally agree with everybody on the fingers on the bass shot. Also really like the portrait of the chap in the flat cap but it feels as if it needs taking down a shade and perhaps a contrast boost

No matter how many lenses I have owned - I have always needed just one more
