Thank you folks.
In summary, there is and isn't any benefit dependent on experience and/or opinion.
I'll stick with what I have. After all, although boot times are irrelevant to me, my old rig boots up in about 50 seconds. Not bad!

I find everything more zippy, noticeably so.
Number crunching still requires the CPU though, and programs still need RAM for breathing space.
Put another way though, I wouldn't buy a new computer without one though, so something to consider moving forward.
