Because it is a fuss over nothing - or not very much. I also think that the OP should perhaps have realised what sort of operation SRS is. Particularly if it happened several times.

I had a similar experience with Calumet recently, but didn't think it worth reporting on to the forum.

I hope the OP will give SRS another chance - using the phone!

I have just received an order from SRS Today, Just a couple of small items, But they were well packaged and quick, When i bought my DA 50-135 from them it arrived the following day, Personally i rate SRS as good as any of the top suppliers i have ever used. Plus they have a wider range of Pentax accessories than anyone i know! I have bought the Pentax Sensor Cleaning Kit, Neoprene Camera Strap, Viewfinder Magnifier all from SRS. Who Else would have them in stock?
I`m always sorry to hear if someone has experienced a problem with a supplier but if i try someone for the first time i always place my order by telephone.
Best Regards - Pete.

Well......I once tried to order a ND filter with Chris. Same thing happened. Chris tried very hard to get it for me,put all the extra miles into it, but the problem wasn't Chris or SRS. If you as a company doesn't get supplied, then you can't deliver. And lets face it.....There isn't exactly a fast turn around stock wise for ND filters. How many people actually use them these days. I have a set of 3, (49 mm from Hoya) and only bought them (ebay) for the very slight chance I would need them.

So don't mark Chris as a person who can't hold stock. He is relying on others to get his supply. And I can understand if he doesn't hold stock on every filter available on the market.
Best regards,

Martin.

No - exactly the opposite.

Almost everything I have (photographically speaking) has been bought from SRS.

I order by telephone (instant check on stock levels) and the item arrives the following day.

Superb service, knowledge etc. etc.

I went to the Rayners Lane shop (RIP) and wanted four filters - they had two there but I had just seen the previous customer buying the others I wanted. They called Watford who had one, which was immediately posted out to me and the fourth had to be ordered in but took just a few days.

In another case I wanted an AF360 flash - agreed to pick it up on a Thursday evening. Opened a sealed box in the shop and connector block was actually broken off! Both the staff and I were surprised - no problem they said, we will get a replenishment. That was available to collect from Rayners Lane the following day

SRS cannot carry a large number of every item and will occasionally run out but their turnaround on orders has always been rapid.

"The problem is that the OP seems to think that SRS is a large warehouse operation with an integrated stock and ordering system. It isn't."

Well, George, I'm afraid I missed the clairvoyance lessons at school.

I joined this forum in August, lurked for a while and posted a couple of pics to the gallery. As I said originally, it's not my first experience of using SRS, however each time I've had the same response. Being that they have their name at the top of the home page here (and in so many other places) I thought it reasonable to ask the question - if they are big enough to be the "official shop partner" then it's not a huge jump in imagination for one to expect them to be of a size to carry what I would consider "basic" items. You may think differently.

SRS clearly have a lot of support here, but I found very little in the way of testimonials for them anywhere on the site, yet so many people sing their praises... if I'd known it was a small outfit I would have cut them some slack, but once again, I'm not clairvoyant...

Anyway, Chris from SRS has been in contact and I'm hopeful that they may be able to source a couple of items that I've been after for some time - like I said above, I'll always go to an indie if I possibly can.

Perhaps we can now move on?

Not wishing to become a bore I have purchased on at least a dozen occasion, via the net, and have always received the goods in good order next day.

Mind you I can understand a one off shop sometimes being out of stock of items that do not move very quickly, distributors willing they will get it for you asap, I had noted that SRS do not carry a large amount of filters anyway I was disappointed to find that they do not do Lee but then at the moment nor does anyone else, it seems they are unavailable from the manufactures does anyone know why?

Edit:

Filters must be SRS’s achilles heel… my last order was for a K7 + DA* 50-135mm and two circular polarising filters, a 67mm and 77mm. Every thing was fine except they had sent a 72mm filter instead of the 77. But it only took a phone call to sort it out and I had the replacement 77mm the next day.

So did I. But it's really not that difficult to work out which are the big box-shifters, and which are smaller operations with less sophisticated systems.

You've over-hyped this in my view, but it seems that Chris is on the case and I am confident you will be singing a different tune in the near future.

And I know telephones are old technology, but talking to people is usually the best way to get things done. In my experience, anyway.

And now, post some pictures for us to tear apart!

No problems here, ordered K7 and lenses Friday afternoon. Arrived Monday morning. Nice and easy to deal with over the phone, good friendly advice.

Filters must be the gremlins indeed . Forgot to put my two UV Hoyas in...on their way now though.

No hesitation in going back for other kit.

No. Not only, but every now and then I decide to take a day off work. I take my car with a happy feeling. I drive calmly and relaxed like on no other route. I take the M1 north. I arrive in watford. I park in the Sainsbury. Get off my car with a smile on my face. Cross the road. See the sign. I enter the shop. Spend a good hour talking about photography, equipment, photogossip. I buy something. Or not. And after all this I drive home, acknowledging that I had a great time, and did not buy anything in sainsbury

I might be sad, but I have never found a shop where I was happier to spend my money. Actually I did. When I was a kid and I used to collect football stickers, and once a week I had 500 Lire to buy a little packet of 5 stickers at the newsagents. I loved that moment....

Ehi Chris, can you get some football stickers in stock??? PLEEEEEEEAAAAASEEEEEEEE

I have had several orders with SRS, from lens caps to batteries and I have never had a problem. BTW I am in Australia also. First class and quick shipping, in fact I can get items from SRS quicker than ordering from Pentax Aust in Melbourne.
