SRS has rivals

We all know that the service SRS provides is second to none. However, when it comes to second-hand stuff, they do have some competitors on this forum.

Twice in the last couple of months I have bought from members of the forum. The first time, one of the famous 12-24s from Aminstar, was despatched before Amin even received my money. The second, a flash from K10DLimited, also came at just under the speed of light, and was in better condition than described.

Thanks chaps. It has been a pleasure doing business with you.

PS: Also bought a K20D from Bodyheat. We met up in London, and he turned out to be a charming chap - for an absconder!
Keywords: Charming, polite, and generally agreeable.

I too have received an item from John McD sent before my cheque arrived never mind cleared - it is nice to know that there are those who still trust and wish to do their best for others, thanks to all who have been prepared to trust their fellow members, also those who sell at a low price to help a fellow photographer. Well done there are those who make this world a better place and they seem concentrated on this forum.

George, thank you for the kind words.

In the past nine months I have been in this forum it has been a joy pleasure and an honour to interact with you all and the things I have learnt from you all I couldn't even begin to list here. I regard members such as yourself here like friends already so trust comes simply as a byproduct of it. I didn't even think about the cheque or payment arrival when we had closed the deal and the lens needed to be dispatched. I was passing by the post office so it was only normal for me to take it with me and dispatch it.

George, what else can I say except 'Thanks' ?

I have not been around here recently as I had crossed over to the dark side for my digital digressions, but still have my manual film Pentaxes...althogh to be honest they are not getting any use and am considering selling my K2 to someone who might appreciate it...it is 30 years old and virtually mint as I used it as a back up for my LX or to shoot black and white when I had ektachrome in the LX. Anyone have any idea what it might be worth to a collector, out of interest?
FILM - Pentax: LX, K2 - 24/2.8, 40/2.8, 50/1.4, 120/2.8, 80-200/4.5, 28-105mm 2.8 macro, AF 280T

DIGITAL - Nikon : D300 - 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED AF-S VR DX

Who can tell these days? It sounds like a job for eBay to me. With a good image or two and a good description it could soar on eBay. Start low, keep a steady nerve and it usually works out pretty well.

I remember buying a K2 when they first came out, to replace my SPII. Must be getting old.

Very nice camera, though, and the last word in sophistication at the time.

It's actually a very high spec manual camera and built like a tank, as always. Makes the revered K1000 look like an old Skoda next to a Mercedes of the time

I've found selling stuff on here relatively hassle-free too... I think it will go to pot when some Nigerian general offers you $5 million dollars a tatty old DA 18-55
