Keep an eye on SRS deals in the next couple of months. Last weekend's deal of £200 PX on the K3 seemed to slip un-noticed on here. I got lucky 1st thing Monday after seeing it after midnight. Too late to post unfortunately.

I've moved this to General Chat as it isn't about a specific deal. It is easy to miss offers, especially short term ones.

I was surprised Chris didn't mention it on the forum.

I was wavering a bit and the extra would have probably made up my mind but thankfully I'm over it now so I saved some money.

He does usually put things on Leads to Deals which is how I missed it on the forum. I think that's where most people look for things like that. John can be very strict - moving my lead to a potential lead to here

I find the Leads to Deals section to be a bit strange tbh ... the guidlines say expired deals will be deleted yet there are 7 pages of which 6 are probably no longer valid.

There's a simple reason for that Mike. I'm slowly working through those, but there was a period when we were dealing with over 100 spam registrations a day and priorities were obvious in those circumstances.

Eventually it will all be cleaned up, I've done about the same as remains now.
Best regards, John

What do you have to trade-in to get £200 back?

But i guess that must have been before the £200 offer? I assume that means £200 above the normal trade-in value.

That'll be a trade in with £100 added I imagine, there is a fair amount of markup on this stuff prior to retail.
I've asked about one or two prices for p/ex and in all cases selling via eBay and after fees would still provide a healthy differential. I had a lens which SRS were selling on eBay for in excess of £550 and the p/ex offered was around £300.
This kind of thing works when you've got an old SFX or SF7 film body which can be picked up almost for the price of p&p and you trade it in for £200, I certainly wouldn't be looking to move anything of high value. Find anything knackered that's Pentax that you own and offer that would be my advice. Hang on to a K20d as a spare body.

There is actually very very little mark up in dslr cameras, the markup is in the accessories. As for selling your gear on eBay that's fine but when SRS sell used gear they have to also include 20% vat and they throw in a 12 month warranty all these make a difference to the final selling price and eventual profit. SRS also have to keep prices competitive against other online sellers which they consistently do despite their small size compared to amazon etc.
