Spring is here - bug life

All taken with K10D / D-FA100 over the last week in my garden. C&C's welcome!

Really like the 1st one, good shots!

Be careful though, the missus is really starting to get into her macro's, and might want to borrow your garden!

I must admit, as much as I'm loving my two Limiteds (and the 43's still my favourite of the two) the macro's great fun - especially now I've got some "wildlife" coming into the garden!

Really nice shots. My favourite is No. 3, the composition is great and the focus looks spot on. I think the colour of the flower and the green background really sets the subject off too.

PS can I have your lens please!

Thanks for the kind words and yes, the top bug does have a nice symmetry - I don't know what they're called but I always get quite a few of them and I've always called them Green Shield Bugs, although I doubt that's their real name...

Fiona: No! I wouldn't dream of parting with it as it's such a great lens, I'm sure your Tamron's just as capable though - I've seen some really nice pics from other folks using one of them. Almost bought one myself (the price difference was tempting!) but I just preferred the handling on the Pentax, so light and with the quick-shift too...

Nice shots Hefty. No.1 is my choice and i think you are right with its name : But Dan will know for sure
Its a little soft around the face but i know how difficult it is getting that critical focus when you are so close to these little devils.

No. 1 is my favourite.

Your garden seems a lot more advanced than mine, which seems to have ground to a halt after the recent snow.

The snow did for a lot of the smaller flowers (the purple one in #3 is in the same bunch as the ones on my other thread taken just before the snow came) but I've got quite a bit of variety and things like tulips and hellebores are sturdy enough to survive. To be fair, on the days when we haven't had a blanket of snow it's been quite warm and sunny so the insects have been making the most of it!

Shield Bugs? Know for sure? Dan? None of those belong in the same sentence.

However, from this page I reckon Hefty could be right.
