Best of a bunch that excludes Katz Eye.

Pete you might be right but like you said there's no in-depth review of Katz Eye so how do you know?
Also Katz Eye's are twice as expensive.

I know that a Katz Eye is a good investment, and as important so as valuable as a lens, and better than a cheap Chinese eBay screen. I don't know if the ones in between are worthwhile. Maybe they are. But definitely a Katz Eye would be a safe bet.

Well I'm extremely happy with my Katz Eye screen and consider it money well spent
Obviously it's an absolute boon for manual focussing but also it's great when using auto focus. Why? Well because you can pretty much instantly see if your lens has missed focus. A sort of a double focus confirmation

That would be triple if you've the focusing on single focus then it does a double check on his own. That's one reason Pentax focus slower then other makes.

Having looked at the link from Anvh, I think I will have to save up for the Katz Eye screen. I think the price is $205.00 for the screen + OptiBrite and Rule of Thirds. Not to sure about this but its still about £80.00 more than the Focusingscreens.com Ec-B .
I prefer not to waste money so it will be a purchase in the new year.

Katz eye use the same method as most others.
They buy fullframe screens and cut them down to size.
Katz-eye use the Nikon K3 screens so if you get the standard version there would be little difference between other brands.
Katz-eye have the opti-bright so that makes them different but like you said with that and third rule option you come to an amount of $205.00.
The focusingscreens are $77.35 with rule of third they don't have the opti-bright. Although I think $127 for a coating/treatment is quite a lot but that's for you to decide, it might certainly be worth it.
Also don't forget the tax and shipping you need to pay with both.

I'll chip in and say that now I wouldn't be without my Katz Eye screen, in my opinion it is really that good. In fact I have taken to manual focussing on many more shots now than I would have done without it.
If I ever upgrade to another body in the future a Katz Eye screen will be the first item on the accessory list

Hi Greytop
Has your Katz Eye screen got the OptiBrite option : Would this be a significant improvement over the standard one.
