Spahetti Junction Shoot with Samantha

I did a shoot with Samantha yesterday - again, lots of fun - Samantha was absolutely great!

This is from my 'first pass' at processing the images. I like 'em, but would be interested in any C&C and PP comments, as I'd like to make the most of these shots.

These are with the 2x flashes and umbrellas... there were some ambient light shots too, but I have yet to edit them.

With the bright pink dress in shots 1 and 3, Samantha certainly stands out - to the point of overpowering, perhaps? The graffiti in the background perhaps needs a bit more of a blend of colours, as it's predominantly black and white, with only the slightest hint of any other colour. Just my observation/opinion though.

Thanks Brian. Useful observations, Steve - thanks! These were processed from the OOC jpegs which were already quite vibrant. I would not be surprised if I have been slightly heavy handed / blunt with the first go at processing, in my enthusiasm...

I've had another look at shots 1 and 3... 3 "works" better, because the subject (Samantha) is more closely cropped, and the graffiti is slightly OOF, giving the image more of a sense of depth. 1 "works" in that it is not so closely cropped, so that we get a sense of location within the shot - however, the graffiti is pretty-much as sharply focused as Samantha is, making the image look a bit to "two-dimensional" to my old, tired eyes!!

I agree Steven. Luckily we got some full length shots with a more neutral background too.

I prefer number two but the hair could have done with a little rim light to separate it from the background. The highlights on the face need to come down a notch or two too.

Nice idea and posing, great location too by the looks of it.

Thanks Gary, you're right - I've no excuse cos I did have a little homeycomb grid, and another flash, on me. With some helpful comments on the first three already, I'll drop another few shots - one flash and two ambient.

Beats me, so perhaps someone else can suggest why?

But why not upload directly from your computer by using the Image button below the message pane?

Hi,

Looks like you are trying to embed the page address and not the image.
This address works when you add it to the browser but from within a page, or message, it cannot be resolved.

Best way is when looking at your photo in Flickr take a look at the icon that is usually lower right. It looks like a square with an arrow pointing from it. Clicking this will show how to share the image. Use the grab HTML code and embed this into your message. This will then point to the image, not the page, and "famous last words" should then appear in the message.

Oh, the drop down also lets you choose the size to embed.

good luck..

Cheers Pentaxprime - I did do it like you said but it still didn't work. Never mind - as I don't have my own resized versions, I've downloaded from flickr at 800 size, and re-uploaded here:

In your first set, you could have done with some light going up inside the dress - you have achieved it in te second set.
