Space shuttle time lapse

Very cool - The space shuttle is still an impressive vehicle even though it is now being retired (and the various problems it has had over the years). On a related note I just read the autobiography of a shuttle astronaut called Mike Mullane ("Riding Rockets" the book is called) - very good I thought and recommended for anyone with an interest in such things...

Just heard the Discovery is making her last flight right now, she will return a Wednesday.
Later this year the rest, the Endeavour and Atlantis will also make their last flight.

After which NASA will be renamed to NASAL and then they'll showcase new spaceships with newfound alien technology built in them. The first of many shall be called BSG9000.
Kidding aside, it is very sad to hear that something like space exploration is taking a back seat due to the man made problems we have in the world today.

Btw America doesn't have a space craft now so Russia is the only country now.
China is also busy with manned space flight i believe or was it Japan...
Too bad ESA never made the Hermes or Hopper, they are busy with the CSTS now but that's a capsule and not a shuttle like the other two

It's amazing. But something more amazing might be the size of the building(s) in which they are performing those tasks. When you see the height at which they lift the shuttle to bring it to the rocket boosters makes you dream...

It has to go higher than the height of the booster as it is lowered on a track that is part of the booster system.
