Suddenly, I'm really missing generator....

I hope this kills the 'full frame' lens on a APSC 'brings the object closer' bu**s**t to bed as well.
Pentax pour des images riches en détails!

This is not the way to discuss things. Algi tries to prove his point and others try to disprove it. This should be a technical discussion.
Not getting to personal.
Algie's credibility does not plummet. Because in a proper discussion
credibility does not plummet, just because the other party tries honestly to prove a point.

Sorry Horst buts its pretty obvious that this stopped being a reasonable discussion some time ago. Think about it in another sphere If I were in politics and I was told something time and time again but failed to understand it or change my own point of view, and nearly everyone else said i was wrong, but I refused to listen or look again at the evidence. Then what would happen?? I would slowly but surely be discredited! People would start paying less and less attention to what I say on that subject. I was only attempting (obviously failed)to get Algi to realise this to halt him ploughing the same worn furrow. Even HIS own "evidence" works against him that is whats so unbelievable about his position. Leading me to believe, as some have commented that He has a different understanding of the terms He is using to everyone else

That's very unkind comparing me to Generator. Possibly what happened to
him should happen to you!

As for the other clown DanielH I can only quote Smeggy's
Wikipedia link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argumentum_ad_populum

I first noticed Telephoto Compression which you all claim
doesn't exist at the age of 5 when I first saw a cricket
match on TV.... the stumps looked on top of one another
and not 22 yards apart. Looked OK from the side.

Estate Agents long ago realised that by using WA lenses
they could make rooms look bigger.

There isn't a problem when one person out of a hundred is
wrong, but there is a serious problem when the other 99
are.

I think it's time to stop this thread, I'm sick of all the personal
attacks on this forum which started with Chris.

Algi, go back to the original post which is about crop sensors vs full frame. The point is if you crop a 16mm lens to give the same angle of view as a 24mm lens, as happens on a crop sensor camera, the results will give exactly the same perspective. Numerous examples posted in this thread prove this beyond doubt!

You have dismissed these examples saying that the 'magnification' of the image is misleading, but it is the magnification of the image - or in other words the 'crop factor' - which is the whole point of the discussion.

Algi, I'm sorry, but the effect you're seeing is real enough, but the reasons for it you are mis-interpreting. We all know that telephoto lenses appear to compress things, but that compression is still there (albeit a tiny part of the view) in a wide angle shot from the same spot.

You are just misunderstanding something, so better to look into it and see why. It's there to be seen and at least two of us have provided pairs of images to help you understand. We can't do any more.

Finally, nobody compared you to generator, the comment did not mean that, so please don't misunderstand that.

I think enough has been said so I'm going to close this thread to avoid any escalation.
Best regards, John
