Whatever happened to the Angenieux lenses? I remember seeing an advert once for a free give away with a super large telephoto lens in the USA. They were giving away something to carry the lens in. A VW POLO (or whatever it was called at that time in the USA) Can anyone else remember that advert? Once again what happened to Angenieux?

I have an Angenieux lens on a Nizo Heliomat Super 8 movie camera I bought from a second-hand dealer. It also has a built in Gossen light meter. Aside from my beloved Pentax, this is the best equipment I own.

I love it - it's as if the DDR saw other brands with motor winds and bulk film backs then decided to make their own using leftover bits of T-34!

Angenieux are still going and still making (incredibly expensive) lenses for movie cameras. Alongside Cooke (Taylor, Taylor, Hobson as was) they are the only two lens manufacturers I know of that make Carl Zeiss optics look like cheap Christmas cracker novelties.

I used to occasionaly have to use a 20:1 Angenieux 16mm film camera lens, it was a truly hateful thing with an external motor turning a gearded ring on the zoom control. Still hate even the memory of it.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

I know, its not a Pentax so why am I posting this here? Well it is just such a mad piece of engineering and I've fallen in love with it. There is actually one for sale on eBay link but its way beyond the limitations of my wallet. The seller has a few other oddball things for sale. The aspherical 15mm Takumar in a Nikon mount and the Ultra-Achromatic Takumar 300/5.6.
Not in anyway intended to be spam. I have no connection with the seller.
Anyway, now off to the shed to make a turret mount for my K10 !
Cheers,
/Ian
