Some Macros from the last few days.

Now the weather has improved slightly, I've had a chance to have a proper play with the Pentax 100mm 2.8 macro that I recently bought.

I'll try not to bore you with too many.























I really ought to try to unstick that lens from my camera and get to grips with landscapes.

Yes I know 'tis expensive. I was very lucky that DrO was selling his here in France for an extremely reasonable price, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to afford one. I'd been saving up for one since I bought my camera last year.

To be honest I don't think I would have got on with it if I hadn't had the experience I have had with other lenses though.

It's taken a while and an awful lot of wasted photos to get to grips with it and it doesn't make it any easier to get the shots in the first place.

Since I got my very first macro lens I have put in a lot of time and effort practising and it's been very hard frustrating work at times. It didn't happen overnight, you only need to look at my portfolio to see what my photos were like when I started. But I'm pig headed and won't let anything beat me, so because of help and advice on here and through shear bloody minded determination I kept at it and I still have a long way to go yet.

Your macros are improving all the time - you just need to keep at it and practise, practise and practise some more.

Hats off to you Charlotte - some great images here (#3, #5 and the beasty at the end are particularly impressive). Be interesting to see what you come up with when you *really* get going with this lens

Just keep 'em coming. I for one think they're something to aspire to (but I can't get the little critter to walk through the superglue)

Liking No 4, the silver hairs under the body, fantastic detail in pin sharp focus. Brilliant.

Lovely shots there, Charlotte. Do you mind my asking what extension tubes you are using? I have an D-FA 100mm and would quite like to try some but have no idea what to get. Also, are these shots hand-held or using a tripod? At the moment I am using hand-held with, usually, flash.
