I have been out testing my recently accuired SMC D-FA 100mm macro, managed to get out during a break in the rain. Here are the four best results.

Hi supersammy. I'm surprised no-one's commented.

Anyway, having a vested interest so to speak, you appear to have done better with the lens than I did

Like the photos - good exposure and sharpness - and look forward to seeing more, hopefully with something more challenging like insects and other bugs.

What did you use with the lens? Flash, tripod, any form of focussing aid? Please don't tell me they were hand-held

Hi Sammy. I can't tell from the EXIF what your SS was but it looks to be a touch too slow. Also no flash fired so you do need to get diffused flash into play with macro to get the best results. I also noticed f2.8 to f4 in the EXIF - definitely need to stop down to at least f8 or f11 for the extra DoF. Decent start though !

I think the yellow poppy is lovely, but would be even better with more DoF.

Excellent start, keep 'em coming!

Roger.
