Next an old favourite - the handsome European Woolcarder Bee;

Finally, can anyone identify this very impressive moth? It was too far into the flower bed for a clear shot and I could not photograph the upper wings which were perhaps a dark brown. I cannot find a likely candidate in my learned journals. It has a wingspan of about 2 inches?

Glad to see that lovely lens is getting such good use (I've still got a copy myself)

Can't help with the Moth identification - but I suspect you'll get some assistance very soon........

Have you tried using the 'Seek' app on your smartphone?

Guess that you have identified the 'Gasteruption jaculator' (unless you made that up! ) I guess you've used quite a few resources already,

That ovipositor is seriously bad news for some poor creature! Super pictures of it nevertheless.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
