All shot with Pentax A 50mm f1.7 on tubes

First one was inside and lit using the onboard flash

Second was ouside so taken through double glazing lit with the DOI ring flash

Third was also inside again lit with the DOI but sadly I think there is a bit of camera shake, he shot off though when the flash went off so I couldn't get another shot

Steve, these are really great!
Esp. no. 2, with his wonderful feathery antennae.
Flicking through "The Book", I think it's Chironomus Plumosus.

Absolutely my sort of images.
Thanks for letting us see!

Thanks Roger,
But this begs the question...what book. I really need a decent book to check out what these beasties are and any recommendations would be great.

The book I use is "Collins Guide To The Insects of Britain & Western Europe", by Michael Chinery.
ISBN 0-00-219137-7

(Then confirm any id on Google Images.)

I want to hit #1 witha lump hammer!!

Damn things have been annoying me all week.

Cool pics though. The furry antenna are great - couldn't you train it to clean your sensor?

Yes - great pics. Especially like #2 with the antenna and #3 for the eyes and the way you've caught the irridescence (or however you spell it :roll of the wings.

Nice pics, though I think they look a bit soft, could maybe do with a tweak. I took the liberty of having a go at the third one to show what I mean, just a curves adjustment and a bit of sharpening, plus cloning out a few spots. i will remove it if you want.

Wow thanks Johnathan, that looks much better, you will have to PM me some precise instructions as I had sharpened it in LR3 if you don't mind!
