What version do you use John
I use P2E 6.0 but Sue uses the latest pro version as she usually does the demo sessions for the club. It's on her laptop, so it's there for both of us as we need it.
Best regards, John

That links to the 2011 setup and not the the last version (2012) of WLE which has been removed by MS.
The 2011 version will no longer install because as has been mentioned a few times already, Windows Live Essentials is discontinued, so nothing will download. In fact if you try, you will receive an error that the catalog cannot be found (the resource from MS servers).

I use Shotcut for these purpose. It's simple and free.
As already suggested [by myself] in Post#2 and as the OP has since tried and found too complicated

I just clicked the link above and found that I could hardly comprehend the descriptions of what it is able to do for you, so attempting to use it is way out of the question. Like the OP, I want a slideshow program, rather than a full featured video studio.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

It's easy to forget that video is merely a series of stills shown at 24/25/30/50 or 60 frames per second which fools our brains into seeing 'motion' where there really is none. In other words, video is a fast slide-show.
With this in mind, approaching the use of a video editor to create a slide-show becomes trivially easy to understand.
