software for pentax kr

am delighted with the KR i bought last week but having problems with the software which came with the camera. It seemed to load alright but although i can see the images i can't do anything with them. I downloaded a 'patch' from the pentax website but that hasn't made any difference. Running MS Vista premium. Have contacted Pentax to ask for help but in the meantime, any ideas welcome.

The software bundled with the camera is basic, but useful if it's the only RAW converter you have.

A better approach is to use a card reader to transfer the images to the computer. This is not expensive and car readers are widely available.

Then a program to manipulate the images, perhaps Photoshop Elements. If you only want very simple adjustments, then something may be bundled with Windows or perhaps a free download from the web.

Personally, I don't ever load the software that comes with a camera and as I use JPEG capture I don't need a RAW converter either.
Best regards, John

I seem to remember that some people have had problems like this in the past and the solution was ti right click on the icon and select "run as administrator".

Many thanks for your reply John. Yes, i do transfer the images directly from the card onto my pc but then if I open them in the software, i can't do any editing. You're right though I must get Photoshop Elements. Cheers.

Just loaded my software to see if its working all seems ok but like John I prefer to use J peg and edit in Serif to be honest. How are you liking the new Kr happy shooting and hope you get it sorted.
