One of my mates is a wedding photographer. He also does photobooks and I think charges £2000 upwards.
He drives a Porche, has a 5 bed det house plus a place in Spain.

Here the advice price for a normal "professional" photo shoot is around the €150 (£130) a hour, that are the hours for the actually shoot and on top of that count the hours of the processing, so do the math i'll say. You'll probably end up around the £2000 indeed...
That are just your hours though... printing is extra of course.
But for a starter you should ask less but don't price yourself too low though.

I shoot images profesionally for 2 commercial websites
I shoot them for my own business and my wifes, but I dont get paid because I'm not making any money (yet) and the wife pays me in other ways than cash
Does that count?

Does your wife know my wife by any chance? I listed "Slave" as my position in my own company on my linkedin account.

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Checking out the chap we're hiring I think it's worth it. So many £500 photographers seem to have a) shoddy sample albums b) are shops that use several staff in rotation so you don't know who or what expertise you'll get on the day!
