smc-Pentax M Lenses

I've been spending my time lately trying to aquire a few M lenses which will potentially be used on my k10/20.I've got an 80-200mm and a 135mm prime I would like a 200mm'75-150mm and 28mm or 35mm primes.

My question is about the quality of images I would get from these lenses on a digital body initally the images off the 80-200mm and the 135mm seem excellent' nice colours and contrast with bags of detail.

The 135mm seemed to give a different colour tone to the whole image. Why I don't know?

You maybe asking yourself by now why does he want to buy old lenses well the answer is easy.I love the build quality and styling also the wieght of the M series lenses I also like the way it changes my photography.Like manual focus and manual aperture setting.

Which is probably old hat to you guys but i missed the film era and now seem to be merging the two.

Any tips'tricks or advice you have would be very much appreciated.

These guys have the M 75-150 and a M-28 in stock, plus a super tak 200. I had been considering the 75-150 but eventually decided to skip it as my LBA has become a bit of a problem recently!

I have always liked the 75-150 zoom, so I am afraid that my copy is not for sale.

However, it is a fairly common sight on Ebay.

A good 75-150mm is a very nice lens, but beware worn ones with very loose zoom/focus action.

With the lens mount down the zoom/focus ring should stay at the top of its range without slipping downwards.

A forum member has these for sale, including some of the lenses you require.

I am now watching a couple on ebay especially the 75-150mm thanks for the link Peter.I feel the wallett is going to make another appearance

The zoom/focus action on these and similar lenses can be stiffened by tightening the band under the grip via the grub screws. Doesn't always stay working long, though. Threadlocker will help if the screws loosen by themselves.

I just got a M 200mm prime this morning

I have a split prism in my programA.I would love one for the k10 Peter but they seem to be expensive'Katzeyes I think.

Also is there a problem with the centre focus point or spot metering when one of these is fitted'just something I heard.

I use a cheaper Chinese ebay split-prism screen and it works very well. I dont find it suffers unduly from blackout with slower lenses.

Focus point is not affected , but spot metering is, so I tend not to use spot-metering and rely on the histogram/preview more.

I don't know if i have the bottle to change the screens over though.I know it's supposed to be an easy operation but worried about dust.

I have not tried that screen, but my advice is that if you want to do manual focussing (I do....a lot), then a split-prism will be a much better bet.

Any framing errors can be easily corrected in pp, but out-of-focus cannot.

To butt in and change the thread slightly. Can you knowledgeable guys tell me where the F lens fit into the scheme of things. I have aquired three of these but have not tried them out yet. Don't see them advertised

The F series are the first of the autofocus lenses. If you subscribe to PU magazine I was telling you about them this current issue.
