I'am awating delivery of my K10D with 18-55 kit lens. I have also purchased a FA 50mm 1.4 from the internet.
I also spotted a SMC 50mm M F1.2 on the internet for the princely sum of £25.95 which I could not resist, ,
I am know wondering what metering functions will work in the manual mode ?, and will I get a manual focus indication with this lens.
I've always wanted a fast prime hope I made the right decision.
I have just joined the forum and looking forward to being involved.
Thanks for any info.

The FA 50mm f1.4 lens is very nice indeed.

The SMC Pentax-M is no doubt the f2 version, labelled 1:2 on the lens. The SMC Pentax (not M) 50mm f1.2 would cost a little more than £25.95.

However, the 50mm lenses make superb 75mm-equivalent optics on digital and I'm sure you'll have a great time with them.

Welcome to the forum!
Best regards, John

You will have to select a special function in the menu to use M lenses and you will be limited to what is effectively a stopped down manual metering mode. None of the automatic modes will work because the camera does not know the aperture set.

Thank you all for your help yes you ae right it is in fact a F2, a bit misleading when it says M 1:2 on the lens. Well you learn something new each day.
I will give it a go and see how it goes.

Was it bought via Ebay? If so it might be worth trying to get a refund if it was incorrectly listed as that's expensive for an SMC-M 50mm F2, especially as given you've already got a SMC-FA 50mm F1.4.

I've seen quite a few 50mm F2's incorrectly listed on Ebay so it's a common problem. Genuine F1.2 lenses tend to be expensive - even 3rd party ones as the last couple of Porst 55mm F1.2's I've watched have made £100+.
