Sadly that's quite a common problem with the Power Zoom lenses.
Your best bet (assuming you caught all the bits) is to put a tiny dab of superglue on each end of the cover plate (where the clips were), reassemble it, and hold it for a few minutes until the glue takes. Make sure that the switch still works and that you've included the little copper contact in the push button, it may be a good idea to have a dry run first to check this.

I was lucky enough to find a trashed lens with all the switch parts, and an otherwise mint lens minus the switch. Combined the two and it takes decent photos, although I don't have any way of testing the PZ functions.

Thanks for the info, I have all the bits and will try to repair with super glue, thanks for all your help.would be helpful if these were available as a spare part

Your best bet is to keep an eye on ebay for a cheap example with intact switch. It's also worth watching auctions of Z or PZ series cameras as the PZ 28-80mm was a kit lens for some of these.

Got surplus lens that I guess was dropped as the thread is cracked in, seems to function fine. The PA AS switch is fine, powerzoom works on the K-7 .
