SMC- A 70-210mm requires repairing

I've been having a look at my Dad's SMC-A 70-210mm and noticed that the rubber focusing ring appears to be faulty. When you turn the lens to focus there is extra movement and it sounds as if something is "grinding" under the rubber grip.

Are there any companies out there that repair manual focus Pentax lenses?

Regards

A second-hand replacement off ebay would be cheaper than a professional repair.

But first check if there's anything you can do yourself. Peeling back the rubber grip will reveal grub screws that make a metal ring apply pressure to eliminate play in the focus/zoom ring. Try tightening these screws.

Try Medium Strength (blue) Loctite Threadlocker on the screws if they keep coming loose.

The last one I sold which was in as good a condition as a brand new one went for a mere £46.00.

It's a lovely lens, if a bit heavy, and if I could handle manual focus with my eyesight I'd have certainly kept it.
