SMC - M 1:4.5 80-200 Zoom

Hi Folks,

Quick question, as the above is f4.5 throughout the zoom range, it apeals to me somewhat. Its a little dark, but it doesn't get any darker if you know what I mean.

Is this a reasonable lens for knocking about if I can get it for under $100 US? (It's in very good shape).

They are quite big and heavy compared to modern zooms, but they are good performers.

I agree these old lenses are pretty bulky but I've taken a hard look at my photographs and figure I may as well use my gear for an aerobics workout as much as for picture taking.

I'll let you have my expert opinion on how it performs should I buy it. (Remember, I'm the guy who is amazed if his shots even turn out, so I'm not very hard to please! I'd probably even be happy with Canon gear but I'm afaraid George would beat me up, so I'm stickin' to the good stuff.)

It's raining presently, so I'm goofing around with a 1:3.5 135mm Super Tak M42 on a bellows. I'm shooting some Royal Dalton details for a friend. Looks good so far.
