Yes, nice work. Compacts are briiliant for close-ups; my Ricoh R7 focuses down to 2cm!

I can't agree. I would find that level of quality unacceptable although I realise the limitations of the equipment. I can't see the point of pushing beyond the boundary of what's possible. I would simply find it frustrating.

I too appreciate the limitations of compacts, paticularly now I have the K7 + DFA 100mm macro but...
I still think it's an aesthetically pleasing image &, not without value, a record of the moment. I don't believe this image pushes the boundary of impossibility.

The background is a bit noisy but the detail in the cap seems quite remarkable for a compact. A pretty shroom too

your first one has a nice quality to it Roger. worth a little experimentation with saturation and selective sharpening (as opposed to all over) in PP
I think all the usual things help to overcome whatever limitations your equipment has, but just having the camera available is priceless.
I know a lot of members have the fuji 9600 so I make no apologies for submitting these

You're right, Gareth. They have been overcooked.
But I still think they're images worthy of keeping , more down to the qualities of the camera than my post-processing skills(as they were!)

The frist one is to wash out ..not enought focus...I do like the shot from the top though, drifferent angle are always nice. Interesting little pickly flower. Love the light shing through the mushroom .Well done.
