Smailholm Tower

The first one looks great but I don't like the swans which I am sure you very carefully included! For me in each shot it's the tower and sky that are the stars and the swans just detract from that.
I think of the three the second one is the one I like most but they all seem very well composed and exposed.

Great quality shots Ali and I particularly love the mono conversion of No. 1. Unlike Mike I think the swans add to the picture by creating an interesting forground. The sky in No. 2 is terrific. I've been to Smailholm tower so I can relate to these shots.

I love number 2. It gives a real feeling for the place. The angle of the tower gives better view of the type of building it is.
I have been to this site on a number of occasions and it feels wild and desolate as if the border reders are still around.

Thanks for the comments folks.
Waited for ages to get the swans in the right place in no.1.
Once I saw it on the screen didn't know if the made it all TOO central!
Love Smailholm Tower, very mysterious place at times.

Like them all The swans are slightly distracting but still lovely. Although in number one they are so perfectly positioned it looks like you've added them in PP. The castle is a bit central in that one too. Number 3 is probably my favorite. Great range of colours in the water and great light on the castle.

I like them all, especially #1, I like the reflection among the swans.

A 15th Century peel tower, once inhabited by the famous Sir Walter Scott as a child to recover from illness.
All C & C much appreciated.
