Could this be a similar problem to the one I had with my extension tubes?

I have a Sigma 28-200 (cheapo one) and a Zeiss branded 75-300 which I'm pretty sure is an early Sigma APO. Both work fine.

Indeed, I have a Sigma lens which works fine on a Z1-P, but doesn't work at all on an SF-X. There is no consistency. What works on one camera doesn't necessarily work on another. No problems at all with my Sigma 12-24mm 1:4.5-5.6 DG EX or 70-300mm 1:4.5-5.6 APO DG

Hi,
I have read this Sigma issue several times before, but never seen the same issue with Tamron lenses. One of the 'joys' of AF cameras and 3rd party lenses, just one of the reasons I avoid both. I also believe John only buys Pentax lenses...
cheers Steve.M.

In the distant past I have bought all sorts of lenses, but for a long time it has been "Pentax only" and that has been a very good decision.
Best regards, John
