sigma mini wide II 28mm macro

Hi, I'm thinking of picking up the above lens for my K5 iis unless the opinion here is that I would get as good as or better quality images using my Pentax smc da 18-55 lens. The intention is to use it for landscape photos. Any thoughts?

The 24mm version is more usable for landscapes, and is a cracking lens.

I can confirm that. I have AF version of it and use it as part of my compact kit with K30 when going on bicycle or hiking.

I think the 28mm is reputed to be quite good too, and should be superior to the kit lens with the possible exception of flare control, which older Sigmas were quite poor at. For landscapes, if you want wider, then you can always stitch multiple shots together. I do that quite frequently.

Thanks, I've yet to try that. Do I need special software for that, or can I do it in Photoshop?

I use Microsoft ICE, which is very effective and free, but I think newer versions of Photoshop can do it too.
