Sigma Lenses

Hi Ron,
I have this lens and I am quite satisfied with it. It is said to be a bit soft wide open on the long end but I doubt that somewhat.
As this has been discussed before, here are some sample pics with 100% crop in the pic:

A5.6@300, 1/750 s, 400 ISO

A5.6@300, 1/1000 s, 200 ISO
All with my trusted *istD. As far as I remember (these are from January 2007) I did not sharpen (at least for the 100% crops) these pics.
While it certainly isn't the sharpest lens around I think it's good value for money...
Hope this helps,
Prieni
Edit: Forgot to mention that, of course, with smaller aperture the sharpness does get better.

Hi Ron
I tend to use this lense as my workhorse and have nearly killed it on my pentax ist DL and also on my K10D .. Alas its nearly worn out as I had trouble with the macro switch on the side (my Fault) and the zoom is not as smooth as it was because of this ..
Most of the photos on my website were taken with this lens.. Not the portrait ones but the macro ones were and also the bird shots .. If it helps have a look I would be interested to hear what you think .. link
Regards
Peter

Pentax K7 and K5 and several black tubey things with magnifying glass in that twist around and move in and out - to be honest I am not sure exactly what I have. Will list the proper names one day..
