Sigma lens problem

I've recently bought a Sigma macro lens for my K7. It is a 50mm F2.8 EX DG macro. Despite trying now for a few days I can't seem to get it to work on my camera. What I get in the top panel (the one by the shutter release button) is 'F---'. Has anyone come across this? Is it me...or what!?

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Is the aperture ring set to A ? (presuming it has one)

I heard that with some you need to wobble the lens a bit so that it makes a better contact, so if it isn't the aperture ring then it is that.

it can also be a Sigma issue since you use a newer camera the chip in the lens might need to be replaced.

That's normally only on the big Sigma lenses, never heard of it happening on the smaller ones.

Might be true but you never know right, simply eliminating all options here. Just in case...

It is now AND it's working. Simples, as Yuri the meerkat says. That is when you know how...many thanks indeed MikeP.

Welcome, one of the many things I have learned from this forum in the 18 months or so I have had my DSLR
