I'm not sure about Sigma gear... however, I'm pretty sure there are two models of EF500. AFAIK only the "Super" variety works properly.
In any case, you can use any flash gun as long as it has "A" and "M" modes. If it has a "TTL" mode then you can't use it. (There was a thread yesterday in the "flash" forum about it).
HTH!

I don't know about the "ST", being a "Super" user, but the only flash upgrade I heard about by Sigma is about the "Super" that had to be re-chipped to make it compatible with the wireless function of the Pentax K10/20D.

I have just been given an almost new Sigma EF500-DG ST flash. The chap I got it from has only used it twice. He mentioned that the Flash does not work correctly with the K100d but, the Manufacturer had a fix to address this problem. I Have looked on the net and found this to be true but the update thing was started in 2006. My question is what was the problem with the flash in the first place and do you think the update will still hold true with Sigma.

Richard
