Are you talking about the 17-50 f2.8 EX OS HSM (the new model)?
I have it on a K7.
The size/weight is similar to DA 16-50, sharpness and focusing are much much better than the 18-55 wr I had before, but I don't know if it is better or equal to DA 16-50. It seems to be an high level lens.
I have also a 3 years warranty on this lens. The price was 600 euro in a german store.

Has anyone got one or used one? How is the sharpness , focussing speed and how does balance on the newer bodies (I think he has a K7, but plans to upgrade to K5 in the new year when he will be visiting us)
He will be using out for weddings.
